After Camp Gaw, we picked up Else and Janet, drove down Rte. 17 to E. Saddle River Rd. past Ho-Ho-Kus Hilton (the Pearsons’ old house) to Roslyn Rd. We met with Hank Henckler and his Mom, Muriel. Muriel is the last person of the old neighborhood still living on Roslyn.

At Glen School, we toured the rooms, introduced ourselves to new people and hugged old friends. There were about 70 people and most were from the class of ’67. The non-class-of ’67 people included Lis, Harrison Knight, Jeanne Stanley-Brown, Muriel, Hank, Else, David Stanley-Brown, Janet, Margaret, Reed, Katie Knight, Cheryl DeGruchy, Mrs. DeGruchy, Kimmy Vukov, Ricky McDaniel, and the George McFall family.

Mr. McFall was our custodian and everyone adored him. He died a couple of years ago, so his family was there to accept an award of appreciation. As I chit-chatted with them, a son-in-law asked, “Are you Margaret Silvers? Peter’s sister?” “Yes,” I said. Maurice Willoughby and Peter went to Dublin together – talk about small degrees of separation! Maurice says hello, Peter!

Nightcaps at Smith Brothers, then home to bed. I thought I had woken early, but Reed was just returning from a visit to Camp Yaw Paw. He walked the two or so miles up to the camp area that he remembers as a kid, then ran down to get back for breakfast and a ride back north to Maine. It was a great trip.

Check out Robin setting the ball for the kicker (Is you middle  name Lucy, Robin?)  Hank getting sacked, and almost spectacular touchdown passes save for the remarkable defensive plays.  Count the bicycles in the street, and is that Margaret climbing a tree?

Terrific to see Mr. Samson again – mowing away.  Big lawn to mow, as I remember.  But maybe not under that big ol’ willow tree on the side.  Rember that?

Terrific baseball game too.  Beth Stanley-Brown hits a home run?  Not!  But Trisha gets a triple.

We just kept playing running bases.  Pick out Karey and Julie Samson, Rob and Peter Silvers, Trisha, Margaret, Suzie Crowe, and I think the Freitags?  Anyone remember the Freitags?  Two kids?  And Jigger, the dog, of course!

We are all older now, this must be about 1972.  Vietnam was in full swing, the boys have sideburns, thin, short pants, black framed glasses.  Watergate was just one year away.

And, we are still playing touch football.  This game has both neighborhood kids and the Silvers’ cousins.
